Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about malaria-prophlaxis-advise

Do I Need Malaria Tablets for Every Country?

No, malaria risk varies depending on the country, region and season of travel.

This depends on the medication prescribed. Some begin 1–2 days before travel, while others require starting several weeks earlier.

No prevention method is completely effective, so mosquito bite prevention remains extremely important.

Possible side effects may include nausea, headaches, stomach upset, vivid dreams or sun sensitivity depending on the medication used.

Seek urgent medical attention if you develop fever, chills or flu-like symptoms during or after travel to a malaria-risk area. Symptoms may appear weeks or months later.

Use strong insect repellent, sleep under mosquito nets and wear long sleeves/trousers in the evenings. Community discussions online also commonly recommend DEET-based repellents and mosquito avoidance measures.
